Lockdown Season: Surf Skate Sensation
Pymnan “Papang” Tantikositrat is Thailand’s first female surf skate champion. The public’s first recognition of Papang was for her powerful vocals and perky personality that won her the third place in the reality show Academy Fantasia Season 4, back in 2007. After over a decade of skateboarding as a hobby, her athletic talent started getting widely recognized following her victory securing the first place in the Wave Ramp Open Women category at the RipCurl Surf skate Festival 2020.
With the surge in popularity for surf skating during the pandemic lockdown, Papang has become a leader in promoting this new culture in Thailand. On Mar. 31, 2021, department store Siam Paragon kicks off the Siam Paragon Summer Sensation Surf & Verve event and skatepark, with Papang and other celebrities joining to introduce Thailand’s longest wave ramp to date (35 meters long). — March, 2021.
